Casa per due artisti | 2015

The project consist in an attic refurbishment and a new volume which replace an old and useless terrace. The objective is to create more functional spaces and to expands the square footage of the attic (new study). The enlargement is revealed in shape and materials: a small wooden cube is placed between the traditional roofs of the village’s houses curtain. The design of an Xlam pre-assembled structure guaranteed processing quality and speed in the execution on site: the work was completed in 4 days. The wall’s performances are those of a passive building, which doesn’t require heating or cooling. Shapes and materials of the interior reminds the boat world: the room volume seems to be the boat hull and the oblique plate in perforated metal, his railing. The red of the ridge beam stands out among the dark wood floor and beams and the linearity of the white walls. The bathroom door is hides among the storage spaces in the corridor. The natural light, often overhead, illuminates the spaces evenly, while the large window of the study, on the south direction, is a light door shaded with electronically shading. Artificial light is rather more indirect to enhance project lines and new volumes.
